Dr. Lawrence T. Verfurth Named Chief Medical Officer at Conroe Regional Medical Center

Conroe, TX (September 22, 2017) — Conroe Regional Medical Center (CRMC) announced Lawrence T. Verfurth, DO, MBA, FACOI, has been named chief medical officer (CMO). As CMO, Dr. Verfurth will lead both quality and clinical initiatives to support the hospital’s clinical performance and practice standards beginning Sept. 12, 2017.

A board certified, mission driven physician executive, Dr. Verfurth has more than 12 years of operational and clinical leadership through his successful positions with a variety of healthcare companies across the country. He has been recognized for his strength in physician leadership and mentoring in order to move organizations through rapid and positive changes that can be measured through both clinical and financial indicators.

Dr. Verfurth is joining the HCA family from the CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System, where he served as the Market Chief Medical Officer since 2014. During his time in this role, he implemented numerous successful initiatives and oversaw an array of internal programs, including quality/performance improvement, medical staff services and hospital medicine programs, for Good Shepherd Health System’s two medical centers, 30 provider office locations, emergency services, immediate care centers, outpatient services and the company’s health and wellness facility.

Dr. Verfurth received his medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine where he also completed his residency and Chief Residency in internal medicine. Additionally, he completed his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan. He is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internets.
